Apple Home - No Home Hub for some users when off Home network.
I am having an issue with only some users on my Apple Home. When the user turns off Wi-Fi or leaves the house they are not longer able to control any of the devices from the Home app. When opening the app the users first see "Updating" on all devices and a short while later a message displays saying "No Home Hub", "None of the home hubs are responding. Features Requiring a hub will not work." and the devices switch from "Updating" to "No Response". The strange thing is, the users receive notifications at this time from the Home app when sensors detect something or a device is controlled. I have had HomeKit setup for 3 years with no issues until recently.
To troubleshoot I have done the following
- Run the profile from Apple to clear out HomeKit data from all user devices.
- Updated devices to most recent OS
- Set up HomeKit from scratch and re-invited all users.
- For a short period of time this seemed to have corrected the issue.
- The issue returned so I removed the impacted users from Home and re-invited once again.
- Again, this worked for a short period of time, however, the issue once again returned.
I am using an eero mesh network and have approximately 70 devices in my home setup. I also have an Airport Time Capsule with a usb printer attached for wireless printing.
My home hubs consist of
- 2 Original HomePod's
- 7 HomePod Mini's
- 2 4K 32 GB 2nd Gen Apple TV's
- 4 HD 32 GB 4th Gen Apple TV's
We have 5 users in the Home.
User 1 - Owner - Never leaves Home - No issues
- 10th Gen iPad
User 2 - Admin - Having issues
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd Generation
- MacBook Pro 14" with M2 Pro Chip
- Apple Watch 7
User 3 - Admin - Having issues
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
- MacBook Air with M1 Chip
- Original Apple Watch
User 4 - Admin - No issues
- iPhone 11
- 9th Gen iPad
- iPad mini 5th Gen
- Apple Watch SE
User 5 - Admin - No issues
- iPhone 13
- MacBook Air with M1 Chip
- Apple Watch 6
I would appreciate any suggestions as I do not want to setup HomeKit again to only experience the same issues.
