When I try to purchase a new iPhone online, it doesn’t recognize my existing phone number with Verizon. I prepay each month for cell service with Verizon, so it’s not a lengthy contract per se. is that why it can’t find my number with Verizon? Given that, I can’t proceed with the purchase. What should I do - is there any way I can buy it online from apple? Thanks!!

Hi,
If you have prepaid cellular service with Verizon, you would not be able to use this option when ordering from Apple. This applies for all carriers, not just Verizon. Only postpaid wireless accounts are eligible to use this option. I would recommend trying to order the phone through Verizon directly, or you can select the option of “Connect to a carrier later”.
Yes, that's why. Purchase a device with the choose a carrier later option or buy it directly from Verizon if that presents a problem.
