Can someone access my iCloud or change my Apple ID if they are the main account holder

I received a few texts the other day on another phone number that someone was trying to get a code to access my iCloud my Apple ID. I’ve also received a text from a number stored in my iCloud from someone that does not have my current phone number. I’m in the middle of a court case and I’m highly concerned that this individual has access to my private information because of this account connected to this phone connected to their account. They are the account holder and have me locked out. I do have a new phone, but I have a lot of information on this iPhoneand he has it active because he has a plan with it but I still have the phone

If the Apple ID account is shared, then it is connected and shared. Shared Apple IDs are shared. Everything including remote device resets are entirely possible. Apple recommends against sharing an Apple ID, too.

If there is sharing here, you will need your own Apple ID.

Disentangling a shared Apple ID is work, unfortunately.
