Unable to connect to EPSON printer via Wi-Fi

This is a problem I've been trying to solve for days now. I've got a 2021 iMac running OS 13.6 Ventura, and am unable to connect my Epson Artisan 1430 printer with wifi. I've downloaded the installer multiple times and tried following the instructions but no luck.

Here's one of my latest attemps:

1. Launched Epson Connect Printer Setup app in dock, connected via usb, searching for printer... Cannot find the printer.

2. Went to Preferences > Printers & Scanners, EPSON Artisan 1430 is shown as "Idle, default". Clicked on the ">" for more info.

Should "Share this printer on the network" be on?

I'm able to print via usb cable but not wifi. Any help would be appreciated. I've reached out to Epson and posted questions on multiple Epson forums.

The Artisan 1430 is an 11 year old printer and the Epson site doesn't seem to have drivers for it for Ventura or Sonoma (I just checked). Where did you find a Ventura driver for your 1430?

Also, there are WiFi settings that need to be set in the printer itself including your network's SSID and password. Have you checked that? And since the 1430 only uses the 2.4GHz band, is your network using 2.4GHz or is it only using 5GHz?

"Share this printer on the network" is not relevant to this situation. You only set that if you want your Mac to act as a print server for other computers.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your reply and info.

I’m not going to bore you with all the details, but I went through a ridiculous amount of steps this morning (beginning with downloading another set of drivers and utilities, for at least the 4th time) and now it works. I can print via wifi.

Don’t ask me which step did it, but hopefully this will work from now on. Fingers crossed!
