Lightning to USB-C adapter v new accessories

I already own several Apple genuine Lightning accessories for pre-15 iPhones, but I'm now getting the iPhone15 with USB-C. I know there is an Apple Lightning (female) to USB-C (male) adapter, but for example, with my Lightning SD card reader, would it be better just to buy a USB-C SD reader than the aforementioned adapter? Faster or less errors? What about video or audio adapters, etc. - is there any disadvantage to using a Lightning-to-USB-C adapter? (Also spare me the "only buy Apple genuine accessories and cables" spiel - I know, everything I have or am considering is Apple genuine.)

I’d get a USB-C SD card reader, not a dongle. I’d reevaluate which accessories are still needed, too.

Incrementally go native USB-C, more generally.

Why USB-C and not Lightning adapter?

… Lightning is a goner.

… If something does go weird, everybody is going to point at the adapter.

(If you do have something you can’t replace, then, yes, look at a dongle.)

PS: USB-C is a connector spec, and different devices can support different protocols via that connector.
