Hi everyone,

I'm the founder of a cloud-based reservation system specializing in tours and activities.

Recently, we encountered a critical bug in our app, necessitating an urgent fix. However, we faced a significant challenge: it took approximately 12 hours for Apple to review and release the update on the App Store. Our app was essentially unusable during this time, causing considerable inconvenience to our clients.

Given the nature of our business and the importance of maintaining uninterrupted service, I'm reaching out to the community for advice:

Question: Is there a way to expedite the review process for app updates, particularly for urgent bug fixes? Are there options to pay for a faster review and release cycle in such critical situations?

I appreciate any insights or experiences you might share on this matter. Ensuring a quick turnaround for app updates is crucial for us, and any guidance on navigating the App Store's review process more efficiently would be immensely valuable.

You will want to improve your own app testing and your own beta coverage via TestFlight or otherwise then, as a 12 hour turn-around through Apple is somewhere between seriously fast and spectacular.

You got an update reviewed and released in 12 hours? That's amazing.

I recommend focusing more on pre-release testing. You are unlikely to be that lucky twice.

There is not a way to get a faster review process. If you previously had a 12 hour turn around time, you cannot expect it to be that fast again. On average, currently I would say it takes about 2 days for the review to be completed and showing on the App Store. This is drastically improved to when it used to take a week or longer. Testing is the single most important thing you can do and it will also speed up the review process in case the App crashes on other devices or in situations that Apple may encounter while testing. There is not an option to pay for a faster review.
