Accessibility feature that speaks word as it is being typed

In iOS/iPadOS 15 and 16, I can go to Accessibility > Spoken Content > Typing Feedback and turn on Speak Words feature and words are spoken as I type them, for example, in Notes, Messages, Mail or even in Safari. But in iOS/iPadOS 17, there are no spoken words after turning on the feature. It was only after I restarted the device that the feature worked. The user guide does not include a restart device step.
