Resending verification code for Apple Pay

When migrating to my new mac, during the computer set-up process I was prompted to migrate all cards in Wallet to use with Apple Pay and complete verification. During this process however, it never lets you enter the verification code from SMS, and it would jump to the next card as soon as the code is requested - looks like Apple's logic is that after requesting the code you will be able to enter it in setting after mac setup is finished.

Each card takes a couple minutes as for each card you have to enter the cvv, accept terms and conditions and select verification method and each step has significant loading time. When a user has 10+ cards, by the time a user is done with all of them and finishes setting up the computer, more than 30 minutes has passed easily.

To my surprise, when I opened the setting to enter all verification codes I collected all of them have already expired. The message states that the code is expired and I should request another code. However there is absolutely no way to request a new code by SMS, and the only available option is to "choose another verification method" which suggests you call a bank - which takes ages. Some discussions suggest that you could delete the card and try adding it from scratch, but even that option doesn't work any more, as after adding the same card from scratch the only verification option is calling a bank.

It's quite unbelievable the problem is known on Apple discussion since 2017! It has collected thousands of "Me too"s, which means that the actual number of struggling users is at least hundreds of thousands and Apple completely ignores the issue for over 6 years!

The impact for me is about 4-6 hours of time wasted, as I have 13 calls to banks to make if I want to use apple pay. I feel robbed and this is the worst experience with Apple products I had in years.

Has anyone maybe found a workaround?

If somebody could bring Apple's attention to this it would be great.
