Apple Watch no longer displaying calendar events

With the last update, my watch no longer displays upcoming calendar events on the watch face. If I click the calendar icon it brings up the events , but it is more handy for me having it display on the watch face. I have turned syncing calendars on and off, if I enter the event in the iCloud calendar the upcoming events do show up but I don't use iCloud calendar and it has always worked in the past. I did try to reset the syncing and that did nothing.

I have noticed this calendar events behavior on my Apple Watch as well. I have a workaround that may work for you as well. On your iPhone, open the Watch app ➡️ My Watch (Bottom Left) ➡️ Calendar ➡️ Under Calendars: Choose Custom instead of Mirror my iPhone. Ensure that all of the calendars that you use are selected.
