Why does Mac Mail reduce the size of my jpeg and png files?

I create ads for web sites and different web sites have different size specifications. When I submit a png, created in Illustrator at 1620x621 at 72 dpi, the recipient of my email gets a smaller size. We solved the issue by using my web domain email service. However, that makes life a little more complicated. Can Apple please fix this issue?

I think your question might pertain to Apple Mail rather than Photos.

If you're using Apple Mail, there is a dropdown option to select the size of attachments, once an image is attached to a new message.

My screenshot examples are from Mail Version 16.0 (3696.120.41.1.4), running on macOS Monterey 12.7.1.

The same jpg photo image is 4.5MB when Image Size: Actual Size is selected, and 509KB when Image Size: Large is selected.
