tvOS 17.2 Apple TV App Wishlist

I have just updated to 17.2 on both of my 4K ATVs (2017 and 2021 model), the new ATV app is nice and all, certainly faster than the old Movies and TV Series app, especially the TV Series app when it comes to a show like 'Supernatural', where it would often take 20 to 30secs to load everything in.

HOWEVER, what I don't like is both my wishlist (from the Movies app), and favourites (from the TV series app) are completely gone.

I had almost 200 movies in my wishlist, and now, nothing, they are just gone.

Granted the wishlist / favourites on the ATV never synced with any other device (eg. if I looked at iTunes on my PC, or the store on my iPad, I could never see what I had wishlisted or favourited on my ATV), but still.

It would have been nice if those could have been rolled into the new ATV app and force-synced with the rest of the Apple ecosystem.

I guess I should have been more prepared and manually gone through both and written down everything that was in there, but still.

I will never be able to manually rebuild those 2 lists :(

So it was pointed out to me by someone that the Movies app has now been updated to have a 2nd tab in the menu when you open it.

It defaults to the 'iTunes Movies' tab where you can either 'Library' or 'Purchase' and they will take you to the ATV+ app.

However 'Wishlist' has now appeared as the 2nd tab, and it shows your original wishlist as it stood before updating to tvOS 17.2.

So Apple listened to us :D

I just took a look, I didn't have 'almost 200 movies' in my wishlist...

When I went into it, 6 movies per row, I have exactly 49 rows of movies in my wishlist, which brings my wishlist number to 294, so it was 'almost 300 movies' :P

No, you can't.

The wishlist on the Apple TV has NEVER been available on other devices.

The wishlist you are seeing on the iTunes app on PC is the same wishlist you will see on your iPhone or iPad, but it is not the same wishlist that the iTunes Movies / TV Shows apps on the Apple TV itself.

The Apple TV wishlist/favourites is a siloed wishlist/favourites.

But it doesn't matter anymore, there is no reason for my original thread to exist anymore since Apple made the 'Wish List' and 'Favourites' available again on the old iTunes apps on the Apple TV streaming box.

No you can't.

The 'Movies' and 'TV Shows' app on the Apple TV never synced up with anything else.

If I go to my iPad or Windows PC or Macbook and fire up iTunes, then go to 'Wishlist', there are only 3 things in there.

Those 3 things are what I added years ago to my wishlist in iTunes itself.

The wishlist (From the Movies app) and favourites (From the TV Shows app) on the Apple TV could only be retrieved from another Apple TV device.

List should still be there; thou I created my wishlist on my iPhone (iOS 17.2.1) I go into iTunes where the Wishlist is still there…BUT leave your bottom selection on music. I created mine in my phone and not directly on Apple TV.

On the Apple TV go into “Movies iTunes” , you will see WishList at the top. You can only view what was there. At least on mine it did. We have more than one ATV; we noticed the list is the same on all. Formerly ATV devices we had different lists on each ATV. So in short we did lose lists for sure.

You can get to the list from the first page of movies itunes. Instead of hitting go to store or go to purchases you can move to wish list at the top. The problem is that I can not seem to add any movies to the wishlist now. Absolutely hate that the feature was removed and it will cost Apple some money from me as I cannot save a purchase for later. Does not make sense to make this move.
