PCIE M.2 drive not mounting after Sonoma install

I just updated to Sonoma 14.1.2 and now my Sonnet M.2 card is only intermittently mounting the Raid drive. Does not show up in SoftRaid, but I can see the PCIE card in my System Report. The only time I can get it to mount is when I physically reseat the card. The Raid shows its intact when it mounts, no errors. Any time I restart or shutdown, the drive dismounts.

This is my daily driver workstation, and used everyday. There were no issues prior to the OS update.

As a test I 'downgraded' from Sonoma to Ventura, using Migration Assistant to restore all apps and files exactly the same as before, with exactly same hardware configuration, and now all M.2 NVME drives installed on both Sonnet 4x4 PCIe cards mount perfectly on my Mac Pro 2019, everytime.

Apple, what on earth have you done with Sonoma to cause external drive mounting to become a random lottery??

Then went back to Apple Disc Utility and the four formatted drives all showed up, so I used Disk Utility to build a new 4 disc array, and since then the Sonnet card has worked.

I'll update any changes, fingers crossed this may work for others.

I don't use SoftRaid and have the issue. Certainly not an issue caused by SoftRaid.

I am having trouble downgrading to Ventura , do I need to erase the disk first and then restore a Time Machine backup ?

I've updated to 14.3 and so far my drive is mounted as it should be. I'll report back if it unmounts again.

Of the four SSDs mounted on PCI cards the ones in slots six and seven always mount. Give someone else give this a try?

I can fairly reliably get the drives to mount by booting in to safe mode, then restarting as normal No idea why ?

Just happened to me. 2019 MacPro currently on Ventura 13.6.4

Sonnet with PNY ssds. Fine for four years.

Unable so far to reproduce this with macOS 14.4. Also observing that the SoftRAID driver has updated to 8.0 (the app is still at 7.6.1).

Well, after not having an issue for a month, and thinking I was in the clear, it happened again. I'm currently trying to find a way to get my PCIE drive to mount. FFS Apple.

Spotlight indexes do get "stuck" quite a bit!

Update: almost everytime I restart, either one of the drives won’t show up, or on lucky days, both show up and everything is working. I wish I could rely on the latter.
