Mac Calendar app will not leave off holidays

I went to setting in the mac Calendar app and unchecked "show holiday calendar" but the calendar is still filled with numerous holidays, including 3 identical Christmas day holidays, and all the Catholic holidays. I tried quitting the app and restarting it, but no change. Any suggestions? Maybe this is a bug, or even a "feature." What worse is the desktop notifications.

I figured out the problem. My mac Calendar app was linked to a variety of different accounts, Yahoo!, Google, and etc. In settings, I unclicked "link this account" for all accounts except for iCloud. Problem solved.
