Siri can now help users access and log their Health app data - Apple

Problem

I have iPhone 15 plus and watch 9 lte (both running 17.2) even after all permissions in place, Siri at both places when asked for steps says "I am unable to process that, open health app" what's wrong?

iPhone 15 Plus, iOS 17

Just wait 10-15 minutes after you change your settings to set this up - I think it needs a bit of time to populate. Initially I had the same problem - didn't work, but after checking my settings and waiting a while it did. You probably have already made the correct changes to your settings, but just on the off chance that you haven't, one needs to allow Siri to access health data before using the feature. On iPhone, go to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Siri, and toggle on “Access Health Data.” On Apple Watch, open Settings > Health > Apps and Services > Siri, and toggle on “Allow Siri Access to Health Data.”

This feature is also limited by language at the present time - go to Siri settings and change the language to English (US), English (Canada) didn't work for me for instance. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I didn't find there was a delay after changing the settings, but can confirm that Siri only works with the Health app when English (US) is selected as the Siri language. Once working, if I change the Siri language back to English (UK), it stops working again.

No offence to the American accent, but I'd prefer to keep my British one, but it seems I'm left to choose between a working Siri / Health combo with an American accent, or keeping my Siri British accent and missing out on this new feature.

This is a pretty big miss for Apple's QA and hopefully it gets fixed quickly... 🙄

I had to do all the permissions in this post:

On iPhone, go to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Siri, and toggle on “Access Health Data.” On Apple Watch, open Settings > Health > Apps and Services > Siri, and toggle on “Allow Siri Access to Health Data.”

Also made sure Siri is in US English

Still didn't work until I did this:

Have my region set as United States in General / Language and Region on my iphone
