SUMIF function is not working as intended. Need help!

I’m trying to make a simple Expense tracker. I’ve used 5 types of cashflow(Income, Expense, Lend, Borrow, Investment) in Sheet 1. Sheet 2 is my dashboard. Here I’ve used SUMIF function to sum the Amount of each type of cash flow. Here you can see every type has at least one entry. 4 out of the 5 types are working fine, however I’m always getting sum total of Investment values as 0. I’ve tried multiple things mentioned in various threads; like changing the format of the cells to currency, used tables without header rows & columns but nothing is working. Can someone please explain to me why is this happening?

Hi Flanker076,

Adding to Recycleur's reply, you can test for extra invisible characters with the LEN function.

I tested this on my iPhone, and it works. But I find it easier to create a screenshot on my Mac. Here we go:

Text in B2 is 'Investment'.

Text in B3 is 'Investment ' with a trailing space.

Formula in C2 is LEN(B2)

Fill down.

Regards,

Ian.
