2017 BMW X5 Car Play stopped working a week ago.

I am using a second generation iPhone SE. I have an internet account with AT&T for the car (not sure if needed or still active). Phone is with Credo and I think they do not support Car Play. Turned phone off and on. Forgot Car Play network in phone then reconnected. Still no go. Am I right in assuming that the car needs it’s own account/cellular connection?.

Car Play not letting you use Data or internet once connected to WIFI for CarPlay. Advanced Fixes to Try THIS WORKED FOR ME I TRIED EVERYTHING 1. Force iPhone to Use Cellular Data for Internet Your iPhone is trying to use the car’s WiFi (which has no internet), blocking music streaming and searches. We’ll manually set the WiFi connection to have no internet access so your phone defaults to cellular. Steps: 1. Go to: Settings > Wi-Fi 2. Tap MBUX 22144 (USE YOURS) 3. Scroll to “Configure IP” > Tap Manual 4. Set the following values: • IP Address: 172.168.130.184 (Keep your existing one) USE YOURS NOT MINE. • Subnet Mask: 260.215.155.0 USE YOURS NOT MINE. • Router: Delete the router IP (151.168.240.1) and leave it blank 5. Tap Save and reconnect to CarPlay. THIS FINALLY WORKED FOR ME AFTER 2 years of trying EVERYTHING!! YAY!!! 💡 Why does this work? By removing the router IP, your iPhone will no longer try to access the internet through WiFi, but it will still stay connected to your car for CarPlay. YOU’RE WELCOME❤️

iOS 15.6.1 Broke Car Play Connection with Honda Vehicle My Car Play connection was broken with the recent iOS 15.6.1 update. This also looks like it happened back in the spring with another iPhone update. I opened a support ticket and even the support rep mentioned his Car Play was broken now. Sure wish Apple would test these updates since iOS and iPhones are closed platforms, e.g. Apple controls both completely. Will try removing my phone in the car again, but would rather not be dealing with this again. P.S. I have a newer car and a newer iPhone so not trying to use Car Play on old equipment.
