Can’t create new contact from a text anymore??!

You can still create a contact from a received text number. Open Messages and then tap on the number that you want to add as a contact. Then tap on “i” and then Create a New Contact.

Tap on the number at the very top of the conversation. You will see a second screen that does NOT have the Create New Contact Button. Tap on "Info". This will bring up a third screen where you should see the option you want.

Note to Hosts - This number is for the "Shop" app and is a publicly available number.

Do you have Screen Time Restrictions set to ON? Double Check the following Setting:

Open Settings ➡️ Screen Time ➡️ Content & Privacy Restrictions ➡️ Contacts: Ensure that this setting is set to ALLOW.

I found a way to do it.

click on the phone number, then click on info. (I think?) … but ….when you get to the screen that used to have the creat new contact and doesn’t anymore, press and hold on the big circle where their picture can go. A window will open that has the create new contact option.

I'd suggest that you start by updating to iOS 17.2. There were lots of bug fixes.

I have had the same issue... just figured out that you have to keep scrolling a LONG way down to get to the option to add a new contact. Hope this helps!

Pressing and holding the big circle does the trick. Thanks very much for this information. If it's an intentional change, it would be nice to have an on-screen prompt because I don't think I would have found it without this post.

Since the new phone update I can’t do it. I used to be able to do it via the process you’ve outlined but when I hit Info it just scrolls down the screen but the Create New Contact button is missing. All of the buttons are missing.

I understand that process and have done it many times. But the Create Contact is missing from the third screen since the update.

This is all that is on the third screen. I can scroll a long way but it’s blank.

Absolutely nothing I do will bring up a screen that looks like that. Please confirm what model iPhone and what version of iOS you're running.

I have the same issue. And I’m at the latest update. I can do it from calls but not from texts.
