Unable to see photos in messenger

I just rebooted my phone and it fixed the problem.

My iPhone is updated to iOS 17.3 and I am getting the same thing. Gray box when sent a picture and all media that’s been previously shared I get “no longer available. However, my iPad is 17.1.2 and I see all media files.

go to facebook, sign out, then go to the sign in page and use the "forgot my password" tool. reset your password and save it so you don't lose it again. Then delete messenger, and sign back in.

Fixed, automatically. If you go to the error, and shake your iPhone, you are then prompted by a support page. I wrote the problem and them, 5 minutes later all good.

I have the same issue for a while now and i do confirm that it's related to the app that is not optimised yet. Meta is known for laggy apps and having frequent downs in its platforms. The best you can do is to keep your apps up to date

Okay, so this is probably due to the new 17.3 update as I didn't have any issues until today after updating. When someone sends me a picture, I cannot see it no matter what as if I click it, it shows media no longer available but I see everyone is having the issue

this is happening on my iphone 14 pro max also but when I went to my windows pc and opened FB and messenger the photos loaded so it has to be an iphone issue, not fb messenger.

I have not updated my phone with the latest update cause when it updated a month ago, I started having touch issues if my iphone is plugged into the charger so I have been more selective on updating.

Yes happened to me today Dec 13/23 still an issue @ 1:50 am Dec 14 I. All the pics and vids show up on my 2 ipad pros and also on my old iphone 7+ , which only goes to IOS 15.8 and has no sim card in it )

My new iphone 15 pro max is the problem! ,. My pics and vids i receive in Messenger and the ones post just become Black rectangles and if you click them they say “media unavailable ,,I D/L IOS 17.2 after the problem existed

Same issue for me too! It was working fine yesterday and then no media today. I tried flicking off wifi and mobile date, tried installing an update, made sure my settings were correct..still nothing! Seems it’s a messenger issue!

Same thing here!! I updated the messenger App and still not working..... Going to try deleting and reinstalling....

My sister and I are both having this issue since updating to 17.3. I was unable to get it to work after uninstalling and re-installing, my sister couldn't either.

This seems like it might be a problem with Messenger. Try contacting their support.

i still have all my previous messages and photos when I reinstalled the app.

I am unable to see photos in my messenger on my iphone that are sent to me. When I try to load them, I am receiving the message, media no longer available and the photo was just sent. My software is up to date. This just started today
