when I was going to I unplugged my apple watch series 6 to wear while I was sleeping and I didn't know before i took it off that it was updating and now the apple watch apple on my phone is stuck preparing the update is this normal?

There is a simple solution, simply open the watch app, go to general, scroll down to storage, select the watch OS update and delete it. You can now go to Software Update in the watch app and it will ask you to download it again
I’m having the same issue with my series 9. It’s been on “preparing” for over an hour. You pay all this money for these devices & then this occurs. So frustrating.

Tried everything. The 10.2 update is frozen on updating for hours. Left it overnight and restarted the phone and the watch. Still no joy.
