After the last update on my Apple Watch. I cannot swipe up to ping my phone. Pushing the crown button on the side brings up options but not the ping option. Which is normally the phone symbol in parentheses.

If you find the quick press and release of the flat oval side button timing is too unreliable, you can play with
Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed
I like "Slow". My Wife likes "Slowest" to get reliable side button results.
This can also be very helpful for the Apple Pay double press and release.
