I recently upgraded to Sonoma from Ventura where I had no problems with my Epson Perfection V39 II scanner. Now all I get is an endless message "connecting to scanner." Short of going back to Ventura, how can I get my scanner to work again. I need it desperately!

Please keep the link BDAqua supplied for VueScan, at some point there is a good chance you will need it. Scanners (like printers) at some point are no longer be supported by their developers, in this case... Epson. When this occurs you can use VueScan to keep using it with your Mac.
You may need to uninstall & reinstall the driver(s).
If you are using a USB hub, try plugging the scanner directing into the Mac using a USB-C to USB-A adapter?

I wish that worked for me. My Epson Perfection V39 II worked perfectly with my Windows computer, but does not power on hooked up to my new Mackbook Pro M3. The software on my Macbook is updated, and I reinstalled the software driver after removing the old one, but no luck.
