verify startup disk

MacBook Air M2 2023 - Sonoma 14.3 - Every time it wakes from the sleep mode it asks: 'Authentication is required to verify startup disk'. I have already checked the startup disk with the disk utility.

Software Update won't authenticate Brand new Mac Studio — Trying to update the machine to Monterey 12.5. I click RESTART NOW and it asks me to authenticate — I put in my password and it refuses to take what I know is a valid password. I went so far as to change my password in USERS & GROUPS and still nothing. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

authorized User error message I have been using an external startup disk with an M2-equipped Mac Mini for six months without problems. I went to update the Mac OS Ventura (a security update) and got a message that the update could not be completed because the external disk had no authorized user. Even so, the external startup disk starts up and operates but will not accept updates. I do have two users on that disk with Admin privileges. The disk is now locked in the Security app and cannot be unlocked. It still asks for an authorized user. Is there a fix for this without having the reinitialize the disk?

Make sure that your Mac is connected to the internet and then reboot the Mac to see if the issues persist

Thank you. I did it several times... restart, shut down, safety etc. to no avail.
