Iphone 15 Max Pro - Restore from Backup issue

I had a iphone 14 max pro 512gb, it had about 120gb of used space, i've just swapped it at the o2 shop for a iPhone 15 max pro 256gb model. Both phones were updated to the latest software version. I backed up the iPhone 14 before pucking up the iPhone 15, I've plugged the phone into the PC that I did the back up on but the phone keeps sticking at "preparing to sync"

iPhone X, iOS 12

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Sometimes, a simple restart can fix connectivity issues. Try restarting both your iPhone 15 and your PC.
  2. Ensure that you're using a working USB cable and that it's properly connected to both the iPhone and the PC. Sometimes, using a different USB port on the computer can help.
  3. When connecting your iPhone to the PC, there might be a prompt on your iPhone asking if you trust the computer. Make sure to tap "Trust" to establish the connection.
  4. Ensure that your iTunes (or Finder on Mac) is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues.
  5. Temporary disable any security or antivirus software on your PC as they might interfere with the syncing process.
  6. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy. This won't erase your data but will reset location and privacy settings. Try connecting to the PC again.
  7. If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will not erase your data but will reset all personalized settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings and confirm the action. Note that you will need to reconfigure your settings afterward. All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
    1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
    2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
    3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
  8. Make sure you have the latest updates installed.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.
