I wish to track my afib, as i have recently been diagnosed with this condition. It causes me to blackout (not faint). I need to purchase a watch for this, as i am fed up with 7 day heart monitors! Can anyone help me to find the cheapest (maybe oldest) Apple watch with this feature. Also does it need to be compatible with an iPhone... if so, mine is an 8 running OS16+. Thank you.

Without a paired iPhone it is useless so it does need to be compatible with your phone
No new Watch will pair with ios16 , you would have to find a used Watch that the user has not updated.
All watches including SE 2022 can monitor a fib HISTORY, or “monitor fir irregular beats, suggestive of a fib”
Watches other than SE also have ECG

Thank you. However, I found a ladies Fitbit heart watch for 69GBP, which is compatible with my iPhone so long as it is running IOS 15 or above. Mine is 16+, so i'll see what happens. Appreciate your reply.
