Will ‘Journal’ app be available for Mac books and iPads?

I agree. I love the idea of the Journal App, but not being able to sync across devices, start on one device like my phone during the day and document at night when I'm home in front of my MacBook makes no sense.

Notes, Word, One Note, etc all sync. The lack of continuity is disappointing.

Just sent request to Apple feedback asking for Journal on other Apple OS platforms and for Journal to have an import feature too.

I too was exited about the Journal app. For someone who has never started a diary before it's OK but for those who are heavily invest in one, not having cross platform or import support is a deal breaker.

Started with Day One when it was introduced but when they dropped iCloud support I migrated to an app called Dyrii but unfortunately development ceased and the app was sunset. Now I'm back on Day One just to preserve my entry data.

I hope that Journal can evolve to the point where I can drop Day One completely.

I've found that Day One's own syncing service is very reliable. They also have taken advantage of Apple's Journaling prompts (if you're inclined to use them).

I hope that Journal can evolve to the point where I can drop Day One completely.

Personally, I've never had the desire to give up everything that isn't Apple. Generally, Apple's installed apps are basic compared to what is available from other developers. Sometimes basic is all I need but, sometimes, it's not. I can't abide the Mac Calendar app, though the iOS one isn't terrible. But others are, for my needs, much better.

And, given how long it has taken Day One to get to where it is now, I'm not holding my breath waiting for Journal to catch up. I'd also be very surprised if Journal ever added a web interface. That's an important feature for me.

I already have a subscription for iCloud. In the last few years I have been reducing my digital management footprint by closing internet accounts (i.e. storage, email, rewards...) that I no longer use or need. Time flies and I'm at that point in life where I'm reducing the load.

That is something that the Dyrii app had that I did enjoy and it was linked to my Apple ID (soon to be renamed to Apple Account).

I'm more of a don't put all your eggs in one basket kind of person. But it's something to think about.

I am so glad I found this! I am so happy to have been able to send feedback. I journal in such a messy and disorganized way currently because I can't seem to stay committed to one app. I know though that when I started using Journal, it was the one journaling app that I ever used that I REALLY enjoyed using. Unfortunately it was missing things that I required, so I didn't stick with it. I have been battling with my inner perfectionist to just go back to it since I don't see myself stepping away from Apple products any time soon (if ever). Shoot, I finally bought my first MacBook a couple years ago and my poor laptops sat untouched for YEARS until I had to buy a new one for work (didn't work out... never get on the new one still).

It is good app and I thought they will release it for all platforms, but looks like not. Just out of curiosity, why not to use Note app that is already build in in all devises and you can sync it all day you want? Just curious

I suspect that Apple is watching the analytics and usage data as well as looking at the feedback to determine what resources they should expend on it going forward. They didn't, as I recall, make any big announcements about it for the next round of major system updates. So, we'll need to wait and see....

I'm new to the Macbook, but I've been using an iPhone for more than two years. I love the Journal app very much, but I would love to see my journals in My Mac Book. Additionally, Journal has some beautiful features, like picking up photos from the gallery and suggesting I write something. I appreciate the app's behavior.

This will work from my laptop and Mac Mini; I guess that will leave my iPad out in the cold. I didn't realize how much I took Apple integration for granted with everyday apps like iWork, Safari, Notes, Reminders, Calendar, etc. Thank you @stevegofigure!

Apple is slowly making what I consider to be needed changes in the app. I realized when I was playing with it yesterday, though, that it only sorts in reverse chronological order (unless I'm missing something, always possible) and that's how it prints.

I hope it continues to evolve. But for now, I'll stick to DayOne.

It is the unfortunate state of affairs with most companies now. Mr. Bacon’s above reply would probably be a very very long discussion to that state of affairs so we’ll leave it at that. Good point Mr. Bacon.

Was actually thrilled to see the journal app pop up initially. As naturally, i assumed it would also be available on Macs/ipads... Quite honestly what is the point if you can't use it between your devices??

Once again feels like no logical thinking was applied for functionality for their customers.

We don't want to do everything on our phones. In fact the less stuff we are forced to do on them the better.

Dedicating a small amount of time and space to sit down and do things like this on my laptop with focus and clarity is what i want.

Not get more lost into our already devouring mobile devices. Depleting more of our social capacities.

Please just make it accessible between our devices... it can obviously be done as Apple has countless apps capable of this....

I've been an Apple guy for over 35 years, during most if which it was awesome. I don't even know that Cook is the reason, but the downhill slide began at about that same point. On the bright side, their techs are fabulous.
