OneDrive for Mac on external HDD

So my bad! I bought a mac mini with a small 256gb ssd (no way to upgrade). I have 300gb of one drive data. When I set up the mac mini from a clean install, Onedrive setup allowed me to site my onedrive folder on the external drive. All good for now!

Time goes by, I have to move my hardware. I plug everything back in. onedrive asks me to re sign in (dunno why, but it did). Now when I try to choose the onedrive folder on the external hdd. I get a message saying I can't use this folder.

I've read the article about making the external hdd non ejectable. It could have been written in Swahili for all the good it was.

Help please?

Mac mini, macOS 14.2
