I would like an opt-in lock of a mode in the camera.

I have an iPhone SE 2020.

I mostly use the 'photo' mode to take photos. I would like an IOS enhancement that lets me lock my camera in 'photo' mode until I give an unlock command. I find that often my camera mode setting has drifted to video or pano and I must reset the mode during the one moment when the wind has stopped waving a flower around.

iPhone SE, iOS 17

Have you checked Settings->Camera->Preserve Settings and toggled Camera Mode?

Even with "Preserve Settings" turned on, this is happening to me too, all the time. The camera opening in the correct mode, but when I try to switch to a different lens or adjust the focus, or change the the way I am holder the camera, a single careless gesture will switch the shooting mode to panorama or video. The row with shooting modes is just too sensitive.
