I want to delete a Mac app but when I try to delete it I get: "The item "xxxx" can't be moved to the Trash because it's open. What can I do?

An antivirus app appears installed on my Mac. I don't pay for it and I don't want to pay for it. But when I try to remove it, it won't let me.

I have an application that will not delete I keep getting a random popup on my Late 2020 Mac mini with T1 regarding malware. I know that it is a scam as it wants me to call a number...blah blah. I'm no fool! I've gone through my applications and I find a chess.app that is dates in April 2023. I do not play games and know that I didn't download it. In trying to delete it, there is no way to get rid of it. Nothing happens when I try to rename it, drag it to the trash, use terminal to get rid of it...NADA. I've opened the package to see what's there...nothing is deletable. I opened the Mini in safe mode...still no way to get rid of it. Activity monitor doesn't show it's running but I'm still very suspicious. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

To delete an appli on MAC Hello, I want to delete an appli on my Mac. But I get the message "The item can't be moved to the bin because it's open." I've already closed the app. How can I close it "more" ? Thanks.

If you press and hold on that icon there will be a menu. keep your finger down and let go when its on "Quit". Once there you can close the app and it should let you uninstall the application .
