MacBook Air M2 Liquid Damage

I spilled tea with sugar on my mac. I wiped the keyboard and turn it upside down to protection. And after that I brought the computer to service to prevent any negative affect. It was working properly, no any sympthom. After two days, today, they send me a bill and said some of buttons doesn't work normally and Touch ID is not available anymore and also they added If the price is okey for me they can fix it with changing top case with keyboard and also Touch ID. I said I need to check it myself and went to the service. In the service I noticed all my buttons and Touch ID is working normally. Just some of buttons' bottom is sticky because of sugar. When I asked about any other component they said there is no other component that is affected, just keyboard and Touch ID but come on they are working well :/ .They said there is no option to disassemble for this Mac which is M2 and changing top case is necessary. Is it true? Is there no chance to clean bottom side of buttons?

You didn't mention it, but where you took your laptop to was that Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider? Per chance did you get an AppleCare+ plan when you purchased this laptop?

FWIW. I have a 2020 MacBook Pro. After having it about a month, plain water was accidentally spilled on it. Doing something similar to what you did, I immediately powered it off, wiped up as much water as I could and turned it upside down to allow any water that may have worked its way inside to drain out. I left it alone for about 3-4 days, before I tried powering it back up again. I was greeted with what looked like a distorted display. Obviously (to me), liquid got inside and left conductive residue. Having an AppleCare+ plan, I elected to contact Apple Support and shipped the laptop to them (I don't have any Apple Stores near me) to be examined. They found that they needed to replace the logic board, touch pad, & the display. With AppleCare+ it was covered and I paid a much reduced price for the repair. My point is, even plain water can cause this much damage. When you add other things like sugar, it can even make things worse.

Yeap the service was Apple Authorized Service Provider and I don't have AppleCare+, just warranty that is not include damages by user mistake. Thank you for your message I get it. But they already checked and inspect the device. The problem is only sticky buttons. I am using this computer even right now.

Make sure you have a current data backup. Liquid damage is often ongoing due to corrosion.
