This happened to my 2nd Apple TV remote, if by mistake I charge remote with Apple original iPhone 20W charger (once and last), remote does not charge/work anymore. Remote charging quality is bad. I have to purchase third Apple TV in three years because warranty is over.
Apple should not make low quality product and improve it and should not gets faulty by its own company charger. (this is based on my experience with two apple TV remote)
The Siri Remote would only use under 5W of any USB power adapter, so any charger that Apple sells could power the Siri Remote battery just fine. Charge your Siri Remote - Apple Support
If the power adapter is undamaged and works fine for other devices, then consider if the fault is with the charging cable or the remote itself instead.
If a power adapter is able to brick devices (not sure how that would work physically), then get rid of that power adapter.

- If you need more service coverage than the 1-year warranty, then consider getting AppleCare+ next time.
- There is battery service for remotes. That would save you 50% when out of warranty or AppleCare+, and 100% if covered by warranty or AppleCare+.
