Can I download tv shows from Apple TV onto my Mac?

On macOS Sonoma 14.5, in the TV app, you would now see a (⋯) button overlay on the episode tile, when hovering over that tile, while viewing the show’s main Details page (select the show anywhere outside Up Next). Click that (⋯) button to reveal the contextual menu, which should include a Download option. Do that for each episode that you want to download.

Regarding the download of content from your Apple TV+ subscription for watching later, Apple has the instruction for this at Download and stream shows, movies, and events from Apple TV+, MLS Season Pass, and Apple TV channels in which is said:

Download a TV show, film or event on your iPhone, iPad or Mac

• Open the Apple TV app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
• Browse or search for a TV show, film or event.

• To find and play your downloads, go to the Library tab, then choose Downloaded.
• Can't download a show or film? You may have reached the limits for downloads or the channel may not allow downloads.*

However, I found in the TV app on my Mac (with Sonoma) that there was one missing piece of information - to access the download option I needed to click on the dotted button in the lower right corner of an episode or movie in order to access the download arrow.

I can download Apple TV content to my creaky old iPhone 7+, but cannot download to my new MacBook Pro. The download icon doesn't even appear. Why is this? My account is logged in and I can stream a show like Dark Matter, but I can't download an episode so I can watch it offline with my MacBook while on a plane.

On some Netflix shows (tv series and movies) you can download. Are you asking “can I download AppleTV + content to my computer” if so the answer is yes if you use the TV app on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. If you use a PC to access AppleTV + content honestly I have no idea.
