Whatsapp Desktop for OS 10.15.7

Got the solution to stop the program from updating automatically when it opens ! You have to go to system preferences then software update, then Advanced and uncheck the checkbox check for updates. You can now download an older version of whatsapp and when you install it it will no longer automatically download the update.

I also have a MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 and encountered the same problem with automatic updates from Safari. However I solved it by accessing Whatsapp from Firefox and now Whatsapp web is working again! :-)

It is possible to use https://web.whatsapp.com on Safari for example. That's working with macOS Catalina.

I had the same problem after updating the Mac software. Just downloaded FreeChat for Mac and seems to be working exactly as the WhatsApp Desktop version I previously had. And the interface looks identical.

Your suggestion seemed quite logical, so I followed the directions you posted and disabled the automatic update option. I even tried consecutively loading three older versions but each time the prompt would not allow any alternatives other than to update before proceeding with opening WhatsApp.

After the step above was completed, the following message popped up when attempting to run an older version of WhatsApp.

I have automatic updates and check for updates unticked in my macbook pro / Big Sur 2013. I've downloaded an older version of WhatsApp - still when i try to start the app it checks for updates and won't load.

I still got WhatsApp Desktop version 2.2353.64 my operating system supports current WhatsApp but I still use this app and it works perfect without any issues. Idk if I can share the file here but I would be glad to help you.

'm using a MacBook Pro mid 2012 with Catalina 10.15.7 and the latest version of Whatsapp desktop vers 2.23.24.80 can't be installed on this OS.

Anyone know which version of Whatsapp Desktop will work ?

It is possible to find earlier versions on the internet but I'm trying to avoid downloading and trying dozens of versions to find the latest one that will work
