Hulu app is not working on my Apple TV

Hulu not working with Apple TV. Tried forced restart of app, still not working.

I had this same problem. Here's the solution:


  1. Delete Hulu app on your Apple tv.
  2. Go to Apple tv settings, then scroll down to System, then Restart apple tv. (You can also simply unplug and plug back in after 10-15 seconds.)
  3. Download Hulu app again.
  4. Log in.

After reading a lot of people’s experiences I believe there maybe multiple reasons for this issue thus multiple solutions. I tried all the basic troubleshooting with the Apple TV and after going as far as to reset it determined the issue was on the Hulu side. After some trial and error I concluded that the issue came about after I reset the Hulu password on Hulu but not on Disney plus throwing them out of sync. After going to the Disney plus account and getting the two passwords in sync again I was able to sign in to Hulu with no issues. I still don’t quite understand why this was only an issue while attempting to sign in on the Apple TV but at least I’m back in lol.

‘Not working’ how? What happens instead of what you expected? Do you get an error message? What does it say exactly?


Tried forced restart of app, still not working.

Update your Apple TV system software to the current version, if not done already. How to update your Apple TV - Apple Support


Try this for any misbehaving app:

  1. Force-quit the app, then relaunch and try again.
  2. If the issue persists, force-quit the app, restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
  3. If the issue still persists, delete the app, re-download and try again.
  4. If the issue still persists, then contact the app developer for further assistance.

I also cannot log into Hulu on my Apple TV since upgrading to iOS 18 (currently on 18.1). I receive the message to check my login credentials. I can log in on my other Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and PC. I have tried turning TV on and off, checking for app update, checking for software updates, checking for hardware updates, uninstalling and reinstalling app, and offloading and reloading app. Finally, I restarted the app. That was the only thing that worked.

I can login to Hulu on all other devices except for Apple tv. It tells me I have the wrong name or password. I have tried to delete the app and reinstall but it still doesn’t work. I have triple checked name and password and even re-logged into Hulu on other devices just to verify my info is, in fact, correct. Still doesn’t work to login on Apple tv!!!!

Hulu was working on one of my Apple TVs until I just updated to tvOS 18. Now I can’t log in with the same name and password I successfully use on my other Apple and Roku devices. Have tried the force quit/relaunch, offload/reload, and rebooting methods to no avail. Now reluctant to upgrade to tvOS 18 on other Apple TVs and don’t want to change passwords for fear of being blocked out of all devices.


To me, it appears to either be the new OS that has the issue or the app recognizing the new OS.
