How do I sign out of my Apple Watch Series 8?

Hey everyone.

So I signed out of my Apple ID on my iPhone SE third generation and then reset the phone to factory default because it was having problems. No issue with this is that the Apple Watch was previously my mum‘s Apple Watch, which I’m taking for myself. She died so now I have her iPhone, which, as I said, is the SE third generation.

is it possible I can sign out the Device resetting the device? Because there’s no phone on the Apple ID anymore?

Am I just stuck with a permanently gone Apple Watch?

You can erase the Apple Watch without the paired iPhone, but you will need the Apple ID and Apple ID password, to disable the Activation Lock and set it up again.
