In iTunes, importing a CD is not usually a problem, so let's see if we can work out what is happening and why - and then prevent it.

  • When you put the CD into your CD drive, iTunes should switch to the Import CD window. If it doesn't, you should at least see the Audio CD present icon, which you can tap to get to the Import CD window:

  • you can tell that you are looking at the Import CD window buy the grey CD Info and Import CD buttons, shown in the screenshot below:

  • does the CD appear in the iTunes Import CD window? I assume that it does since you managed to import some tracks, but please confirm that you do see it in the Import CD window
  • each track should have the track title and album information listed (as shown) and by default, a tick in the box (a checkmark) to the left of the title. If the tick is turned off, the track will not be imported. Do all the tracks have text information and are they all ticked?
  • after tapping the Import CD button, iTunes should handle the process without any further input from you. If it failed to import a track, I would expect to see an error icon next to the specific title, or an error message that may simply pop up somewhere in the window. Do you see any error messages?
  • if there were no error messages, that suggests that the complete CD was imported, so the next thing to consider is how you are looking for the imported tracks

In the main iTunes Songs library, the Songs view can be a useful method for checking that everything has been imported.

Switch to the Songs view:

  • make sure that the Date Added column is displayed. If it isn't, right-click the header bar... and select Date Added from the context menu:

  • left-click the Date Added header bar to sort the songs by the date you added them. When the arrow in the Date Added header bar is pointing down, the songs are listed with most recent imports at the top of the list. Tap the Date Added header bar again if you need to reverse the arrow
  • with all your songs in date added order and most recent at the top of the list, you can now inspect that list to see whether all the songs are present. If they are, do they all have text information, such as track title, album title and artist name?

By now, it should be possible to determine:

    • whether any songs are missing (hopefully, with an error message)
    • that they all present and have track information filled in

If songs are all there and they appear to have all of the track information, look closely to check whether all songs on the album have the same album title and artist name. If you can see all the songs, now check using your usual view. Is there an issue with the album; is it complete?

If you've got this far but still not spotted the issue, post back with your progress and we can go through the steps required to identify what the cause is. Is the album split up for example?

If you have solved the problem, post back to let everyone else know as this may help other users fix their problem.
