I’m using macOS Catalina 10.15.7 . I’ve trying to find free software that will convert a pages file into a pdf. that can be open on other computers.
Any help would be appreciated.

Why not just use Pages to export your document into PDF… File-->Export To-->PDF and then choose the image quality options, for how you want your PDF file to be. Then select Save or Send Copy, depending on the version of Pages you are using.

Art, you can convert pages document to PDF easily, do it all the time. I have Big Sur but believe it was the same for Catalina.
Open pages document you want to convert. Click on file and in the drop down list you will see “export to”. Click that and it opens another list and you will select “PDF”. It will bring up another window where you will see name of document “abc” and it shows “save as” to the left of “abc”. Then two tabs at bottom of window “cancel” and “export”. Click “export” and you’re done!
