Sudden black screen but it is still running

My 2017 MacBook (running Ventura 13.6.3, model number 22G436) purchased second-hand has been experiencing sudden blackouts while still running. Pressing keys doesn't recover the screen, and I'm forced to hard reset each time. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Is there a solution without having to resort to constant resets?

Compare your results on an external monitor.... is the issue there as well?

If your internal display is having hardware issues, you can take it in—

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"
