MS Excel spreadsheet getting corrupted after using iPhone or iPad.

Since last week, I am having issues using Excel spreadsheets on iPhone and on iPad. The files are getting corrupted after opening them for the second time. I must use Excel and cannot use Numbers. I am not sure if it matters, but I am saving them on iCloud to use them, and after opening them for the second time, the files become corrupted. All my hardware and software are original and licensed materials.

Has anyone experienced this and is there a solution?

UPDATE: it seems to be happening due to the use of iPhone only. I tried many times fresh files on iPad and I could not replicate the problem when using only the iPad. Also, the problem seems to happen when dragging the file from PC to iCloud or when emailing the original file from PC to iCloud mail.
