Is my new iPhone 15 compatible with a series 3 Apple Watch?

I have Apple Watch Series 3. I recently tried to pair it with new iPhone 15 with iOS 17.2. It will not pair. Is it not compatible?

Yes as far as we know but it must be erased completely and paired as a “new watch” (do not restore any backup)
