How do I keep "now playing" from appearing on a lock screen of an Apple Watch?

1. Crown>Settings>General>Return To Clock
2. Scroll down to Music, tap it.
3. Scroll down to “Return to App,” turn this feature off.
4. Repeat for “Now Playing”
5. No need to delete apps!

I had to reboot the watch for it to take effect.

I had to completely delete the app from my watch. Crazy how no matter what I did YouTube kept playing on my watch running the battery down if I was watching it on my phone. Apple really needs to fix this issue!

I didn’t reply to the right solution. I just deleted the Now Playing app from Watch. That DID work😊

I turned off the ‘App Refresh’, which is also in the general settings section. This seemed to work

You don't have to delete it. On your watch, simply go to Settings, General, Background App Refresh, and toggle off Now Playing

The below helped me disable the ‘Now Playing’ feature on WatchOS 10

settings > general > return to clock > now playing > custom > always

Apple Watch Series 9:

You have to go to settings > general > and turn off auto launch audio apps. > Turn off Apple Watch > Turn On > Done

I ended up just deleting the app, since I never actually use it and it’s a pure negative for me. Can’t launch if it doesn’t exist

You can just delete the app on your Apple Watch

In the Watch app, disable auto launch audio apps. This should prevent any audio apps from automatically launching (Apple Music, Spotify, podcasts, or now playing for any other audio).

You have to go to settings > general > and turn off auto launch audio apps.

However of course this will also affect the audio apps and video apps.

I just bought an apple watch yesterday, and deleting the app is the only thing that worked. What an annoying "feature". I don't even understand why this would be on the watch.
