Removing Search Marquis

Should i remove "search marquis" malware from my IMAC Intel Core i5 running macOS Ventura 13.6.1 before i buy latest model iMac. My computer was bought in 2017 and is very slow. I assumed it was because of this malware but was told it more than likely bcs it is old and outdated.

Hey there!

Yes, you should. Malwarebytes for Mac can remove it.

Also, chances are, you can easily have a much faster Mac with a simple external upgrade, which is typically less than $100. Most Mac users who report a slow iMac from the 2012-2019 models have one equipped with a 5400-rpm disk, which can appear slow for certain user tasks. And as an upgrade for this, you can use an external solid state drive (also known as an SSD) for improved performance.

To see if your model could benefit from the above, check Disk Utility. In the Finder, choose Go > Utilities, then double-click the Disk Utility icon. (Disk Utility is located in the /Applications/Utilities folder.) Alternatively, click Launchpad in the Dock, type Disk Utility in the search field, then click the Disk Utility icon. Once Disk Utility is open, select View > Show All Devices in Disk Utility and look at the disk at the top of the hierarchy. Let us know what that entry is titled.
