Rebooting does not help and latest iOS 17 installed. When i airdrop to my iPhone SE from my iPhone 8+, there is a beep on but nothing pops up. Instead I have slide right to the notifications list to see and accept the Air drop notification. Its annoying and I can’t figure it out.

Thank you for your comment, yes when apple ID is the same, the photo simply pops up seamlessly without notification.
In this case however: It is not the same Apple ID, that is why there are AirDrop notifications involved, as explained above in fact The iPhone SE actually belongs to my son, and that is also why it is so annoying, we use the feature a lot, and it is very hard for him to find the notification because no pop up.
In the notification list there is no AirDrop application with alert settings to choose from. I can’t understand why it is occurring. When i airdrop the other way around from my SE to 8+ there is no problem. I have AppleCare+ I guess I should call them, I was just checking here first.
I wonder if someone here can help with the situation. I'm sending a file from my M2 14" Macbook Pro running Sonoma 14.2 to my iPhone SE running 15.8.2 (the latest iOS for my device). Using Airdrop can be flakey, and is far from seamless, I know, but it usually works, sort of, sometimes. I'm using the same Apple ID. I select the file on my MacBook Pro, select Airdrop and send. I hear the beep on my iPhone, but what next? I can't find the file. There's usually a list that appears to choose where to send the file. In this case, an audiobook to Book Player. Where is the darn file? The MacBook Pro airdrop windows says "failed". I don't have WiFi nor cellular where I am currently (aboard ship). Anybody know what's going on?
