Emails disappearing before opening them

A notice will appear on my iPhone for a new iCloud email message. The email will show in the inbox for a second before being deleted. I don't catch all of these. And I cannot find them once they are deleted. They are not in trash, recovered messages, archive. I have to set up rules to get emails from people and businesses so they aren't deleted. I need this to stop. Why are my emails being deleted by iCloud?
