No text alert or LED flash on lock screen ; calls DO alert with tone & LED

UPDATE: If I turn Bluetooth OFF, text alert & LED work on lock screen!!! I'm ok without Bluetooth most of the time, but the Pro is paired with hearing aids.

What the heck have I missed???? We both have 13s (1 regular & 1 Pro) with the same issue. This happens with ALL texts. Initially I thought I was just not paying attention.

Installed current update (17.2.1)

Rebooted

Toggled Bluetooth

Text tone has been selected

Silent mode is OFF

No automatic "focus" of any kind is scheduled

Do not disturb is OFF

Notifications for messages is immediate

Hide alerts is turned OFF

Volume is as loud as it gets

Texters are NOT blocked

HELP???

If you have Bluetooth audio device connected, you will not get audible alerts on your phone for anything other than calls. That’s expected behavior. The audible alerts are routed to the Bluetooth device.

Except that we're NOT getting the audible alert in the hearing aids on the Pro, and the 13 is seldom connected to another device (exceptions are using Air Drop or connecting to the car multimedia). I can live with bluetooth off unless I want/need it, but that doesn't explain the alert not going to the hearing aids. If this is happening to ALL iPhone users, why aren't more people complaining? If it isn't happening to everyone, how do I fix ours?
