Epson Stylus Photo 2200 printer with iMac 27" late 2015 MacOS Monterey 12.7.2

The Epson Stylus Photo 2200 is a superb photo printer! Obviously it's not new, but not damaged either. I'm trying to get it working with our iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) running macOS Monterey version 12.7.2:

The iMac sees the printer (connected via USB):

...but when I press Add, I get "An error occurred ... successful-ok-ignored-or-substituted-attributes":

... which sounds like it "kind of" worked ("successful-ok") but therre was some mismatch in what the printer offered and what the iMac was prepared to deal with?

Is there any hope for getting this working? Both the iMac and the printer are getting on in years, but both are functional - I'd really like to get them talking to each other, to harness the printer's considerable power/value!

Any help much appreciated!

You may need to reinstall the Epson printer driver -> https://epson.com/Support/Printers/Single-Function-Inkjet-Printers/Epson-Stylus-Series/Epson-Stylus-Photo-2200/s/SPT_C11C387011?review-filter=macOS+12.x

I would further suggest that you first Uninstall the existing printer driver (look in the Epson Software folder in Applications, there should be an Uninstaller app there); then restart your Mac, then install the driver anew.

Great news!

Here's also an alert for possible future use ... because macOS seems to want to convert printers to Airprint.

If you ever notice that your 2200 "becomes" an Airprint printer (most likely to be noticed if your print dialog ever loses some of its custom 2200 photo settings), the fix is easy ... just delete the printer from System Preferences (now called System Settings) and re-add it, selecting the Epson 2200 driver. If that ever happens and you get a prompt to convert it to Airprint, just say no.

MartinR, thank you! Installing did the trick - thanks for the link! - I didn't need to uninstall because apparently I had nnever installed the driver on this machine. (I've gotten so used to plug & play that I thought it might just work without installing a driver.) Thanks again, I really appreciate you taking the time to advise me!
