AppleId shown is incorrect and will not allow me to change while attempting to update an app

Apps that were downloaded with a previous Apple ID can only be updated by entering the Apple ID and password used when it was downloaded. This can occur if you log out of an Apple ID on a phone and then log in with a different one. The best course of action is to maintain apps on your phone using only one Apple ID. This may involve deleting the app that was previously downloaded and downloading again using your current Apple ID. You will lose all data from the app and paid apps will need to be purchased again.

I was able to get the app installed after powering the phone off/on and then doing a cut and paste of my password using lastpass. Getting pretty sick of Apple verification hoops.

Ok, I doubt I used a different Apple Id but just in case I followed your suggestion and removed the app (Google Chrome) and attempted to add the app back and I received a request for my Apple Id password, which I typed in correctly (twice) and the password failed both times. Now what do I do? I'm not an IT tenderfoot either (40+ years of programming and design experience on mainframes and desktops (other than apple).
