apple care theft and loss coverage abroad

I am considering getting apple care theft and loss for my new iPhone. I saw that it is only available in certain countries, my country included, however I will be doing a lot of travelling next year in south east Asia. My question is; if I lose my iPhone or it gets stolen in a country not on the apple care theft and loss list, will I be able to get it replaced once I get back to one of the countries where it is offered? Or is it only covered if I actually lose it in one of those countries?
