can you tell me what battery i need for a macbook pro model A1229?

My original battery was damaged. I can not find the battery model I need to replace the battery. It has been years since the battery was destroyed and I am having trouble finding the correct battery online. It is an older model MacBook Pro from around 2006-2007 but I have a lot of history on the hard drive and need a new battery. The MacBook model number is A1229. I’m not sure what model battery I need and I ordered the wrong one so I’m looking for any help or advise.

MacTracker says that Model Number A1229 corresponds to a MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid/Late 2007, 2.4 GHz) with a model identifier of MacBookPro3,1. (Apple also used MacBookPro3,1 for 15" models from the same time period.)

When I pull up the repair cost estimation tool on Apple's site, it only goes back as far as Early 2015 for MacBook Pro battery service. Apple considers the OP's notebook to be "Obsolete" (for hardware repair purposes) and no longer provides repair service, or even repair parts, for it.

There seem to be many sites offering third-party batteries for this Mac. For what it's worth, Other World Computing is one of them.
