Peer to peer transfer

The Migration Assistant on the new MacBook Air says it is using a Peer-to-Peer connection for transfer instead of wi-fi. How does that work.

How do I put an older MacBook Pro and new iMac on the same network? I'm trying to use Migration Assistant to transfer from an older MacBook Pro to a new iMac. In the process I get a notification that it will take 260 hours to do so. I have been suggested to use a network to speed up the process but I'm not sure how to put both computers on a network. How can I do this?

Migration Assistant Won't Work I recently received a new MacBook Air and am looking to use migration assistant to transfer my data from my old MacBook Pro. However, I am receiving a "the selected source cannot be used for migration. This source contains a newer release of macOS. Your Mac requires an upgrade before you can migrate from this source" warning. My old Mac is running Sequoia 15.2 and is showing that it's up to date. Why won't Migration Assistant work? Does anyone have any suggestions to get this working or other easy ways to transfer data? Thanks!

It means the transfer is not requiring the use of a router.
