How do I input dvd/video Pc into lmac/movie

All family movies on DVD I am trying to input them into iMovie program, but I cannot get them to transfer to the program

DVD copy program I have a MacBook Air and an external blue ray player. I am trying to fin a program to copy DVD movies to blank DVDs. I cannot find one. Any suggestions?

if it was me then I would use the free program handbrake and start with importing them to the harddrive and then see if I could import the file(s) into imovie from there
